Southern California & Connecticut, 2022-23: Here and there and back again, a scrapbook
The ultimate destination of our cross-country journey in 2022 was California--specifically, the home of Kathy's sister Laura and her husband Bob. The plan was to spend a few weeks in the Golden State, but everything changed when Mark was admitted to the hospital for emergency surgery on Thanksgiving. It wasn't all pistachio-green hospital gowns and doctor's appointments though, as we took in the sights and enjoyed spending Christmas with our CA family.

Early 2023 we were back in Connecticut where we rented two houses, both of them on Long Island Sound. We returned to California after Mark's retirement last May, once again taken in by Laura and Bob in their lovely home. Though Mark's health took center stage during his long hospitalization in Summer 2023, since his recovery we have ventured out into the sometimes wild, sometimes weird, but often breathtaking spaces that make California such a confounding but captivating place. Pictured below are--in a somewhat jumbled fashion--a few highlights of our wanderings these past couple of years. Our many other adventures in CA, especially our travels north of Los Angeles, will be covered in later posts.
